Brooke Weston is hosting it’s annual Scholastic Book Fair in the library from Wednesday 21 until Monday 26 February where students will be able to purchase the latest books, stationary and posters.
A group of Brooke Weston Harry Potter fans were invited to take part in a celebration of J K Rowling’s unforgettable series of books at an event that was held at Corby Business Academy.
This years ‘Design a Book Cover competition has now been launched for all students in Years 7 and 8 to design a book cover and be in with the chance of winning a book of their choice from those available at the Book Fair at the end of February.
Students from Year 7 received a free book from the Library as part of the Bookbuzz programme. Over 180 books were wrapped by Sixth Formers Charlee Broad, Amy Kirby and Daniel Fell and handed out to students during tutor time.
Students in Years 7 and 8 were visited by Damian Dibben the Internationally acclaimed author of the adventure series ‘The History Keepers’ where he spoke to students about his career and hosted some creative workshops.
A group of Year 8 students attended a workshop at Corby Business Academy with Canadian author Susin Nielson.
This week saw the return of the popular Year 7 boys' premier league reading challenge where students split themselves into teams of five, with each team representing a football team in the premier league and compete to read as many books as possible before the end of the football season
Congratulations to Brooke Weston students Kirndeep Dhassi, Lana Green, Seren Devine and Eliza Donnelly who have all had their book reviews published in the latest copy of ‘Teen Titles’, the book review magazine for teenagers.
Brooke Weston celebrated the birthday of Roald Dahl, the world’s number one storyteller, with several activities and competitions held in the library.
Brooke Weston Trust’s CEO, Dr Andrew Campbell, visited Brooke Weston Academy on the last of his tours of all the Brooke Weston Trust schools. He spoke to students and staff about all aspects of the academy and visited a range of classrooms.
Students who had taken part in the shadowing of the Carnegie/Greenway awards over the last three months were able to watch the awards being streamed live from the RIBA in London yesterday.
Brooke Weston Academy was delighted to host this year’s Carnegie/Greenaway shadowing event, which more than 60 students from Trust and local schools attended.
