Brooke Weston Academy is holding a Book Fair each day in the Library until 24 February so that students can buy the latest books, stationery and posters.
Librarian Wendy McCabe said: ‘The Book Fair brings students the very best books including over 200 top children’s titles from over 50 publishers, carefully chosen to reflect all tastes and abilities. With books starting from only £2.99 plus exclusive titles that you won’t see in the shops or at any other fairs, there’s sure to be a book for everyone.
‘The Book Fair is a fantastic way to promote reading in school. There is always an excellent range of books including many of the classics as well as new titles from popular authors. All students will receive a £1 World Book Day token which they can use at the Book Fair to get £1 off any book worth £2.99 or more.’
There is also a ‘Design a Book Cover’ competition for Year 7 and 8 students with three winners who will be able to win a book of their choice from the Fair. Students can either design a cover for a book they have read or for an imaginary book. The cover should be colourful, intriguing and eye catching and include a blurb, title and author’s name on the spine. Templates for the book covers are available from the Library and the competition closes at 6pm on Thursday 20 February.
