Students hand out roses and raise funds for the British Heart Foundation
Well done to Brooke Weston Academy Year 13 student leader Isabel Offor and her team of sixth form helpers who organised a fundraising event to coincide with Valentine's Day to help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF)
Isabel set up a rose delivery service for KS4 and KS5 students to purchase a rose for £1, write an accompanying message, and then have it hand-delivered; anonymously if they wished, to their would-be Valentine, with the proceeds going to the BHF. A total of £80.00 was donated, which will help to fund much needed research, provide information, support and care for heart patients and their families.
Over 180 roses were handed out and Isabel said, ‘I decided to organise the event because I felt as though it would be a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and bring some smiles to people’s faces. Choosing to raise money for the British Heart Foundation was an added bonus as a way to give back to our community and it also tied in with the theme of Valentine’s Day.’
