Almost 100 students in Year 9, 10 and 11 took part in the first round of a national mathematics competition.

The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Intermediate Maths Challenge is a 60 minute, multiple-choice competition aimed at students across the UK. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

The highest performers across the country in the Challenge will be awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates with all students receiving a certificate of participation. In addition, some of the very highest performers will be invited to take part in either the Cayley, Hamilton or Maclaurin Olympiad or to take part in either the Grey or Pink Kangaroo (depending on their school year).
