Year 12 students learn basic lifesaving skills
Brooke Weston Academy welcomed back former students Paul Nelson and Conor Price, who are both volunteers with the North Northants Emergency First Responders (NNEFR), to teach life-saving skills to our Year 12 students.
NNEFR are volunteer community first responders for East Midlands Ambulance service supporting communities in Kettering, Corby and the surrounding villages.
Students were given information on the signs and symptoms to recognise in medical emergencies and were shown when and how to use a defibrillator and how to perform CPR if needed, with students able to practice their CPR skills on a manikin.
Paul said, ‘We very much enjoyed returning to the school that helped us get where we are today and see staff that taught us many moons ago! It was a privilege for us to have the opportunity to return and be part of the students PSHE session where we could teach them basic lifesaving skills.’
