Adam Crawte appointed as Trust Director of Curriculum

Adam Crawte is looking forward to his new role as Trust Director of Curriculum, updating provision across all five of our secondaries and ensuring it is ‘rigorous, challenging and producing the best quality outcomes for our students.’

Adam will be working with our Secondary Executive Principal, Academy Principals, other Trust Directors of subject and staff to examine the curriculum and make sure it is aligned to the environment, intake and resources in each school.

Adam, who is a history specialist, has held senior leadership roles in Northamptonshire and Warwickshire for over 15 years. He previously worked at the David Ross Education Trust where he led history across its 11 secondary schools.

He said: ‘I am used to going into schools and meeting Principals and subject leaders, finding out what they are doing and helping point them in the right direction to get improvements, so the challenge I am looking forward to in this role is working with fewer schools but with a much wider remit. Curriculum design has always been an interest of mine and I love establishing positive relationships with people.

‘We are not going to have a one size fits all approach, we will ensure that the curriculum at, one school is as rigorous and challenging as that at the others. It is about looking at data and outcomes and whether we are offering the right qualifications for our students or are there better alternatives? It is compartmentalizing each different academy but also cross pollinating ideas and sharing knowledge, building networks and relationships because that is how you get valid information and start to make improvements.

‘I wanted to work for the Brooke Weston Trust as I love its core values, especially the challenge that asks “is this good enough for my child?” when considering what we offer. I also love the idea of working collaboratively and in a Trust of five schools you have the ability to do that. You don’t want people inventing their own wheels, you want people working together to invent the best wheel.’

CEO Dr Andrew Campbell said: ‘Welcome to the team Adam, we are all looking forward to working with you to drive innovation across our secondary schools.’
