Thank you to staff and students for generously donating to today's mufti day collection, which raised £1,425.55, the largest amount ever raised by a non-uniform day at Brooke Weston Academy.
The money will go towards groundsman Mr Paul Twamley's fundraising efforts for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
He has also raised a further £156.10 from today's raffle and will do more fundraising next week by cleaning staff cars from 07:00 to 17:00 for a minimum donation of £5 per vehicle. So far 41 staff have signed up and so Paul will have a very busy day next Wednesday! His main fundraiser will be taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April and he is training hard. He was aiming to raise £2,000 for the charity but today's generous donation means that he will, in all likelihood, exceed his target.
Paul said: 'Thanks to everyone who has donated, either by the mufti day collection, via the raffle, sponsorship or by signing up for the car wash. The Teenage Cancer Trust does sterling work so I wanted to raise awareness and funds for them. Training for the marathon is going well and Rodgers have kindly donated a bus so that friends and supporters can go for a day in London. There are still a few places left for £8 a ticket, so if anyone wants to come along then please get in touch.'
