BWA recruits new library helpers

Keen readers from Years 7 and 9 have been recruited to help in the library, shelving books and learning a range of new skills.

A total of 11 students have been successfully recruited after a process where they had to fill in application forms and take part in mini interviews.

Librarian Wendy McCabe said: Being a student library helper is a great way for the students to provide valuable input into the development of the Library while getting some practical experience in a real working environment. There will be a full training programme which will cover the basics, such as learning how to shelve books correctly, including how the Dewey Decimal system works. They will then progress through various levels of skills, achieving bronze, silver, gold and platinum award levels. I am grateful to all the volunteers and their help is invaluable in making sure that the Library runs smoothly and at the same time helping raise the profile of the Library among their peers.’
