BWA winner announced in the Ultimate Burger Trust-wide competition
The Brooke Weston Trust recently held an exciting Trust-wide competition to celebrate National School Meals Week which took place from 11th -15th November.
Our students were challenged to design their own unique burger, showcasing every layer and ingredient of their ultimate creation.
Congratulations to Lucienne Giffard (Year 8), the overall winner at Brooke Weston Academy, for her outstanding 3D model, 'The Chilly Cheese Monster!'
Lucienne's creative burger, made from sponges, came complete with its own takeaway bag, container, and a stylish Brooke Weston napkin. The delicious design featured a seeded brioche bun, West Lodge beef patty, iceberg lettuce, sweet chilli mayo, and melted cheddar cheese.
Lucienne was awarded a copy of Jamie Oliver's new cookbook, ‘5 Ingredients.’ Additionally, all students who participated in the competition received a golden ticket for a sweet treat at lunchtime from the BWA restaurant.
Lucienne said, ‘I wasn’t sure if I was going to enter at first, and it was a last-minute decision. I came up with the name of the burger first and thought about all the things I like; the beef patty had to be from West Lodge Farm as they are the best! I bought all the coloured sponges for the bun, lettuce, cheese and meat to make my model and I would like to say a big thank you to Bills restaurant at Rushden Lakes, who gave me a takeaway box for my burger to make it look more professional. I was quite happy when I found out I had won and the cookbook has got me thinking about what I would like to cook next.’
A huge thank you to all our students for their fantastic entries and to our dedicated catering team for their hard work in preparing and serving delicious meals every day.
