Year 13 Impress During Mock Interviews
Year 13 students at Brooke Weston Academy recently had the invaluable opportunity to prepare for university and working life through a series of mock interviews conducted by a team of professionals.
This initiative provided students with real-life experience in a formal setting, equipping them with the skills to present themselves effectively and anticipate potential questions they may face in future interviews.
Employer volunteers from a variety of professions were sent capture sheets completed by our students, which included details about the students' chosen courses, career aspirations, and interesting personal facts. This helped the interviewer to prepare questions that would be relevant to the students’ needs. Each student had a 30-minute session with their interviewer, which included the interview itself and a valuable feedback session. This constructive feedback was designed to help students understand their strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring they are better prepared for future interviews.
Director of 6th Form, Caity Brennan, said, ‘This event was a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain confidence and experience in a professional setting, and we are incredibly grateful to all the volunteers who made it possible.'
Comments from our employer volunteers included:
- Renée Watters, Director at Rockleigh Ltd, described one student as ‘highly employable,’ adding that she would definitely give them a job.
- Clare Newton, Commercial Director at Warehouse Space, said, ‘It was great as always to be back at BWA. I hope the pupils got as much out of it as I did! There was some great potential in the group I met.’
- Louise O’Callaghan, Tata Steel, said, ‘The day was great as always. I find it really inspiring talking to some of the students. I hope to come back next year!’
