Year 12 attend Workshop with Jeff Chilton: Making the Most Out of Sixth Form
Brooke Weston Academy recently had the pleasure of hosting Jeff Chilton, Student Recruitment Officer at Aberystwyth University, for an informative and interactive workshop with our Year 12 students. The session was designed to help students begin planning for life after Sixth Form, providing them with valuable insights and practical advice.
Jeff emphasised the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance their educational and career prospects. He encouraged students to:
- Engage with MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses): These online courses can provide additional knowledge and skills that complement their current studies.
- Pursue work experience opportunities: Gaining practical experience in their field of interest can be incredibly beneficial for their future applications.
- Seek out additional reading: Exploring literature beyond the curriculum can deepen their understanding and passion for their subjects.
- Attend university taster days: These events offer a glimpse into university life and can help students make informed decisions about their higher education choices.
Post 16 Curricular Coordinator, Mrs Hegarty said, ‘We look forward to welcoming Jeff back later this academic year for further guidance and support on preparing students for making the most of their summer holidays to enhance their applications for apprenticeships/degrees and jobs.’
