Celebrating the success of years 7 and 8 with their Sparx Reader

Well done to all our students who have been participating in the Sparx Reader programme.

Collectively, years 7 and 8 have read over 1000 books this year and spent over 5800 hours reading. They have exposed themselves to over 40 000 000 words – building up their vocabulary.

Students who were top performers in Sparx points, as well as those who were accurate in their reading, were all rewarded with certificates, pin badges and book tokens. In addition, all of our year 7 students were given a book prize for their holiday reading.

Literacy Lead Lauren Fitzjohn said, ‘BW want to make sure our students have every opportunity to read and use reading to extend their cultural capital and arm them with the knowledge they need for the future.’
