BWA Young Sports Leaders receive a letter of commendation from North Northamptonshire Council
Well done to our Year 10 Young Sports Leaders who have been recognised for their support and for being excellent role models at ‘The Gathering’, a Primary Schools swimming gala that took place at Corby East Midlands International Pool.
Deputy Leader of the Council & Executive Member for Sport, Leisure, Culture & Tourism, Cllr Helen Howell sent Brooke Weston PE Faculty Lead Emma Salisbury, a letter of commendation praising our students for their exceptional work at the event.
She said, ‘All the students were amazing and so supportive of the young primary school children, they undertook their roles with enthusiasm and care, helping children when needed.
‘Their singing and dancing were a pleasure to witness and helped create such a good atmosphere poolside in between races. The students were excellent role models to the children…they were a real credit to the schools and teachers.’
Our Sports Leaders have also taken responsibility for leading, coaching and officiating at a range of other sporting events this year as part of their Young Leader qualification. These have included a Y3 and Y4 Tennis competition, Quad Kids athletics, Primary School Netball, Corby Tata Kids of Steel Triathlon and supporting at Primary School sports days.
All our Year 10 Young Sports Leaders have now achieved a Level 2 Qualification in Community Sports Leadership and received a certificate from the Leadership Skills Foundation.
