Year 12 students get hands-on teaching experience at Beanfield Primary school

Our Year 12 students who are taking part in the Future Teacher programme, spent a morning at Beanfield Primary school gaining practical work experience to help them develop their skills and get a feel for life in the classroom.

Katy Taylor said, ‘I assisted a year 6 class with a sewing project that they were completing. I found the experience very useful in confirming my ambition to become a primary school teacher, and it also allowed me to explore what teaching in a different key stage was like.’

Admira Kecskemeti said ‘I was assigned to a year 2 class on their sports day, so I was able to be outside all morning helping with the different activities. It was fun, and I enjoyed meeting everyone.’

Harrison Saini said, ‘I was placed with year 6 who have just finished their SATS, so they were completing some activities to sum up their knowledge in maths as well as completing a DT sewing activity.

'It was enjoyable to watch the year 6 students engage in activities that will carry over to their KS3 curriculum and to watch how, as a class, they were developing their teamwork. I also enjoyed being able to interact with the students and encouraging them to think about different ideas.’
