Students help sort and pack boxes of aid materials for people in need
Year 10 students who are part of the Charity Elective group at Brooke Weston Academy, took a trip to Birmingham at the end of last term for a packing session at the Global Aid Network Involvement Centre to help sort and pack boxes of aid materials ready to send off to people in need.
Charity Elective group leader Carlien Fourie, who organised the visit said, ‘We sorted donated clothes and shoes which are to be sent to various refugee camps in Europe, including to people in need in Ukraine. Thank you to Mr Frikkie Greyling who hosted us for the two-hour packing session, the students seemed to have great fun sifting through and sorting the various goods.
‘This term the Charity Elective will be running two raffles. One for students and one for staff. All proceeds will go towards Global Aid Network, which they will use for their Water for Life Initiative or to help fund the transportation of donations to refugee camps across Europe. The prize draw will take place in week 4 with prizes of McDonald's and Savoy cinema vouchers for students and two £30 vouchers from the lovely Tollemache Arms in Harrington up for grabs in the staff raffle’
