Well done to Year 12 students Floreen Afoakwa-Sekyere, Myrtle Boadu, Jackson Chen, Emma Petre, Mackenzie Slattery and Theo Rust, who have all been accepted onto the STEM SMART (Subject Mastery and Attainment Raising Tuition) programme.

STEM SMART is an initiative by the University of Cambridge in association with Isaac Physics, to support students who are considering applying to Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Sciences or Biological Sciences courses at university and are studying A- Levels in Maths and Science.

Our students were welcomed onto the programme during the online launch of Phase One: ‘Consolidating Knowledge and Building Problem-Solving Skills’, which explained how to make the most of STEM SMART and provided them with the resources they will need for the 17-month programme. 

Each week, students will be set work that will complement the work they are doing as part of their school studies and students will be assigned a Cambridge University student as a mentor, whom they will meet online once a fortnight to discuss a number of themes concerning studying at university.

Head of Physics, Jinny Bell said, ‘Well done to our students who have been accepted onto STEM SMART. It is a fantastic initiative and the programme will complement the work the students are completing in lessons. I am looking forward to hearing all about their progress.’
