Royal British Legion Remembrance Day Parade

Jordan Oliphant - 2nd from right

Year 11 student takes part in the parade at the Cenotaph in London

Well done to Jordan Oliphant (Y11) who had the great honour of representing the Northamptonshire Emergency Services Cadets (NESC) at the London Cenotaph Remembrance Sunday Parade.

NESC delivers a combined emergency services curriculum, allowing young people aged 13-18 to develop skills across the Emergency Services as well as important social and life skills and Jordan was one of only twenty-one Fire Cadets selected from across the whole of the UK to take part in the parade day.

Jordan, who attends weekly training sessions with the Kettering unit of the Fire Service Cadets said, ‘It was quite a nerve-wracking event but a great experience. We had to march for about half-an-hour and then stand at ease for 2 hours, which was not that easy as it was cold and wet! I enjoy being a member of the emergency services cadets and my aspiration is to be a full-time fire-fighter.’

Michelle Bates, the Youth Engagement Officer for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said, ‘This was a great honour for Jordan to not only represent the cadets but to be an ambassador for the school, an experience that I am sure Jordan will remember forever. His professionalism and good conduct were outstanding.’
