  • Students come out on top at The Winter Games Volleyball competition

    Our Year 9 and 10 boys and girls volleyball teams attended the Winter Games finals in Kettering and succeeded in coming fourth and second place respectively.

    The Northamptonshire School Games is part of a national programme of competitive sport that is open to all young people in every school across Northamptonshire. It is a celebration of sport that involves young people from 5-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds.

    The boys; Alex Hodgkinson, Evan Clark, Sam Parker and Harry Gardner won two of their games and lost one taking them to their last game against Northampton School for Boys which would determine whether they would win a medal. It was point for point throughout however Northampton School for Boys managed to win 2 sets to 0 meaning Brooke Weston boys finished in fourth place having played some of the best volleyball they have ever played.

  • Year 9 PE students attend Gymnastics event

    Year 9 GCSE PE students were selected to attend a gifted and talented trip to Huntingdon Gymnastics Club where they spent the day taking part in various gymnastics disciplines including floor and bar work and vaulting.

  • Brooke Weston wins School Games Volleyball competition

    Brooke Weston saw success when they hosted and won the School Games Volleyball Competition for Years 9 and 10 successfully qualifying for the Winter Games at Kettering Leisure Village later this month.

  • Volleyball England Leadership Academy

    Schools across the county were invited to nominate students in Years 9 and 10 for the Volleyball England Leadership Academy course, which allows students to develop their knowledge of the sport and gives them the opportunity to volunteer at Volleyball England events across the country.

  • Brooke Weston Rowing teams qualify for the Winter Games

    Mixed teams of Years 7/8 and 9/10 attended the Rowing school games competition at Lodge Park where they succeeded in qualifying to represent the county for Rowing at the Winter Games in February.

  • Library Book Fair Competition

    This week sees the launch of a competition for all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 to design a book cover and be in with the chance of winning a book of their choice from those available at the Book Fair in February.

    Students can design a cover for a book they have read or an imaginary book made up by themselves. The cover should be colourful, intriguing and eye catching and include information about the book, title and author’s name on the spine.

  • Christmas Showcase success

    Hundreds of students took part in this year's annual Christmas Showcase. The concerts featured acts including instrumentals, short plays, choral and classical arrangements and dances. Performers included Year 7 choirs, the Orchestra, Year 13 BTEC group, lower and upper school dance groups as well as Year 10 drama students.

    Drama students from Year 9 have been entertaining Beanfield and Gretton primary schools with a shortened version of the story 'A Christmas Carol'.

  • Network Rail headquarters trip

    Following the Engineering week students participated in at the start of the month, where Network Rail led STEM days (science, technology, engineering and maths) at ten schools across the region, four students, Imogen Lincoln, Matthew Brown, Tate Eppy and Amelia Sulch along with science teacher Miss Reynolds were invited to visit their headquarters in Milton Keynes for an experience day.

    The four students were chosen for being particularly engaged and working well as a group and were amongst eight other schools from the midlands taking part in the day.

  • Diamond D of E success

    In celebration of the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme’s Diamond Anniversary DT technician Mr Darren Hooper has recently completed a 12 hour mountain bike race plus a separate cycling expedition up Mount Snowdon to raise funds for local D of E projects.

    Mr Hooper completed the gruelling 12 hours of mountain biking around Minley Manor in Reading, only stopping for one or two minutes every lap, and later went on to bike to the top of Mount Snowdon, raising £150. He said ‘I didn’t get the chance to do D of E when I was at school. So when I heard about the Diamond D of E challenge I knew it was something I wanted to do. I love challenging myself and pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone.
