Successful Sixth Form students attend launch event at Amazon UK Headquarters in London

Our Sixth Form students, who were successful in their applications for the Empowered Females in STEM programme, attended the launch event at Amazon UK Headquarters in London.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of female professionals from global STEM companies such as Pfizer, Facebook, Google, Bp, Dyson and Salesforce to name just a few. They also had the chance to network with professionals, as well as the 250 like-minded students who also attended the event.

Students engaged in a STEM tower activity and familiarised themselves with the Dyson sustainability challenge which the following five masterclasses will focus on over the course of the six-month programme.

Year 12 Mitchelle Mushipe, said, ‘It was good to meet peers with the same interests and it was inspiring.’

Year 12 Teodora Marinescu said, ‘I enjoyed that we were able to discover more about different careers in STEM.  Listening to leading women in this domain was inspiring and pushes me to better myself and achieve more.’

Amber Colquhoun, Careers Lead & Teacher of MFL, who organised the visit said, ‘Students were a credit to Brooke Weston Academy, and we look forward to them successfully completing the programme in March.’
