Dr Gabriella Pizzuto connects with our students during virtual visit

Computer Scientists in Year 11, 12 and 13 attended an online seminar with Dr Gabriella Pizzuto, an interdisciplinary early career researcher in robotics and applied machine learning, who currently works at the University of Liverpool as the lead research associate on the ERC Synergy Grant 'Autonomous Discovery of Advanced Materials' (ADAM).

Topics covered during the session included: the next generation of robots; using AI methods to create intelligent robotic systems; how to use robots to address topical issues such as clean energy and outlined some routes to working in robotics/automation in the academic and industrial sectors.

Computer Science teacher Balazs Kecskemeti who organised the virtual visit said, ‘I have been involved with a program, called ‘Skype a Scientist’ who allow schools and academics and professionals to collaborate online. It is a great opportunity for the students to get to know a real scientist and get the answers to their questions straight from the source.’
