Year 9 GCSE PE students were selected to attend a gifted and talented trip to Huntingdon Gymnastics Club where they spent the day taking part in various gymnastics disciplines including floor and bar work and vaulting.
Students were selected based on their attainment, effort, commitment and performance in PE and began the day by completing a gymnastic warm up which included the element of competition through relay using different moves such as forward rolls and hand stands.
They were then split into three groups and completed a carousel of activities comprising of floor work, bar work and vaulting. Many of the students were put out of their comfort zone as they were completing activities that they had never done before.
PE teacher Ms Rachel Marsh said ‘Everyone rose to the challenge and worked together as a team to support one another when they were finding something challenging. They did Brooke Weston proud by demonstrating the important valves that we promote in PE such as commitment, resilience, team work and self-motivation.’
