Year 12 student success in British Biology Olympiad

Well done to our Year 12 students who recently participated in the prestigious British Biology Olympiad! This competition is designed to develop critical thinking skills, enhance problem-solving abilities, and foster a deeper appreciation for biology.

The Biology Olympiad challenges students to extend their knowledge beyond the standard curriculum and apply scientific reasoning to complex biological concepts. This year, twenty-two of our most enthusiastic biology students took part, testing their understanding of a wide range of topics, from genetics and ecology to biochemistry and human physiology.

With over 18,000 students participating from more than 1000 schools around the country the competition was fierce. High-achieving participants earned awards and certificates, which are valuable for university applications and future careers in science.

We are proud to announce that four of our students achieved a bronze medal, placing them in the top 30% of participants, while one student earned a silver medal, placing them in the top 15%.

  • Silver Medal: Sai Aaditya Prasad
  • Bronze Medals: James Russell, Alfie Crocker, Lilly Edwards, Jayden Francois

Lead of Biology, Danielle Budgen, said, 'Massive congratulations to all those who took part. Your hard work and dedication have truly paid off. Keep up the fantastic work!’
