A former BWA student returns to offer our students an insight into apprenticeship opportunities

Brooke Weston Academy welcomed back James Cooper, a former student who left BWA Sixth Form in 2023, to present a session on apprenticeship opportunities. James, currently an audit apprentice with KPMG, was joined by his colleague Sahil Sharma, who is also an audit apprentice at the firm. Together, they provided Year 12 and 13 students with a comprehensive overview of the diverse apprenticeship opportunities available with accounting firm KPMG.

James and Sahil shared their personal experiences, detailing what a typical working week looks like for them. They discussed the advantages and disadvantages of apprenticeships compared to traditional degrees, offering students a balanced perspective on both pathways. Both James and Sahil emphasised the strong career prospects and job security that come with completing an apprenticeship at a prestigious firm like KPMG.

Post 16 Curricular Coordinator, Mrs Hegarty said, ‘James and Sahil fielded a number of audience questions expertly, promoting themselves, KPMG and apprenticeships very successfully to our Year 12 and Year 13 students. Their enthusiasm and first-hand experiences made a significant impact, inspiring many students to consider apprenticeships as a viable and rewarding career option.’
