Year 8 student gets VIP treatment at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone
Year 8 student Daniel White had a thrilling and unforgettable experience when he had the opportunity to meet the racing drivers who were taking part in the Formula 1 British Grand Prix held at the iconic Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire.
Daniel was chosen to be a ‘Grid Kid’ and received a F1 t-shirt, a F1 cap and a VIP lanyard. Daniel also had access to the grid walk prior to the race start where he joined the F1 French racing driver Esteban Ocon for the traditional pre-race line-up while actor Damien Lewis sang the national anthem. Also standing on the grid, alongside this year’s driver line-up was Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, who was filming scenes for his role in a new F1-inspired film.
Daniel, who watched the race in the Hamilton Straight stand said, ‘It was an amazing experience and the atmosphere with the crowds was incredible. I got to stand with Esteban Ocon before the start of the race, and he asked me how I was feeling. I got my cap signed by the Dutch racing driver Nyck De Vries and managed to get a fist bump from Lewis Hamilton and was filmed for TV as part of Grid Kids. I also saw Brad Pitt, David Beckham and Gordon Ramsay.’
